Hi all,

New here and firstly want to say, both, wow, cannot believe i hadn't found this site until today, and also the sorrow for some of the stories I've read.

Fortunately for me, my CH's seem to be a little milder than some here, unfortunately they kicked off again about a week ago.
Have been CH free for probably well over 18mnths now but sad thing is have been expecting them to pop in and say hi for probably the last month or so.
Probably the worry of knowing they haven't been around for a while and knowing they soon would drove the onslaught.

Good news is that they seem to be a little less severe this time around, but mine generally start off a little mild and build over 2-3 weeks, so again, great, something to look forward too.

My pattern to-date has been a nice hit at least once a year for 4-6 weeks, and usually around Feb, or mid year July-Sept.

For me personally I've found that my CH's can be minimized when they hit, through over the counter Mersyndol day strength, but i have a kicker.
As soon as I feel them coming on, i reach for two tablets immediately and down them with some kind of a fizzy drink smile. Not sure if its just a state of mind thing but my logic is that the fizzy drink desolves the tablets quicker getting them working before i get the full force of the CH. Have tried taking them with water and the same tablets have 0 effect.

No doubt its not the best for the guts, but for that 4-6 weeks when they hit, have found that nothing else works for me. Although my GP has not mentioned any of the treatments on this site.
So, making an appointment today, printing up as much as possible and will go an have a chat with him.

Once a gain, wow, i cannot believe the level of info here and really am dumbfounded its taken me so long to find this truely wonderful site!

cheers
Bobby

Hi Bobby,

Welcome to the site, but sorry you have to be here!
Like you, I have just started another episode, with three attacks over the last couple of days. My pain has been quite manageable too, which like you, is how things start. Unfortunately my remission has only been for 10 weeks and my spring attacks are usually the worst, lasting well into November - which is a bit miserable.

Hope you "went ok" with your GP visit - let us know if anything positive came from it. Gathering as much info as possible is definately the way to go, and there's certainly heaps available here!

On another note, the most remarkable coincidence has happened - over the last couple of weeks, 2 of my workmates have spoken to me of their experiences with CH. One staff member has a brother in law with CH and another staff member told me today that her daughter's "migraines" had just been re-diagnosed as CH!!

Anyway, cheers for now
Sara

Hi Bobby (and Sara),
most people love the start of Spring- not CH people icon

A fizzy drink you say, Bobby. That's a new one on me, but I like a sparkling burgundy, so why not icon
I am joking of course- alcohol is not my friend during my season.

A very warm welcome to you Bobby, good thing Sara picked up on it- I didn't notice.
Good grief Sara. 0.1% of the population suffers and you bump into two others in as many weeks. I've met one ex-sufferer in 10 years...
Cheers peter.

Hello and welcome Bobby
Sorry bit slow on the update, have been away for a few days and then in the middle of a tidy up in our little cottage--what a mess.
A lot of information has definitely been amassed on this site, thanks to some great work done by others before me and by other since. We have all learned so much from the info and also from each other.
Let us know how you went at your Doctor.
Hi Sarah--maybe there are more people out there getting diagnosed!
Peter--I am more partial to a sparkling shiraz!! But like you have to be very wary and at the moment I reckon I am on the verge--mmmm!
Bobby--great to have you on board--no matter what the circumstances.
Cheers
Heather
