Currently suffering :(
I have had Migraines since i was 25 and i am now 39. I have been suffering with Cluster Migraines since 25 years of age.

I am currently in a 3 week pit of agony. My specialist has put me on Topamax to be taken 2 tablets everyday (2 years without an attack). When the migraines starts I take Zomig 2.5mg. Some attacks i have to take 2 if the Migraine does not start to disparate within an hour.

The only thing that has changed in my life before the migraines started this time is I started to ride a push bike with my 8 year old son.

I am all out of ideas anything will help.

G"day Gavin welcome to the forum- sorry you had to find us, but maybe we can do you some good.
Just to clarify first though Gavin, when you say Cluster Migraine do you mean Cluster Headache and Migraine? it's possible to suffer from both (God forbid) , but they are separate conditions.
Have you tried Oxygen when an attack starts? That's a high success treatment, which if it stops an attack positively points to Cluster, although Oxygen doesn't work for everyone. Or for Migraine.
Zomig is used to treat both, but if I had to wait an hour to see if the first one worked, i'd be jumping out the window icon
Were you stressing out when you started the riding with your son? That might have had something to do with it. i do hope you didn't stop the riding though.
Check out the info on the left there, plenty of good useful stuff- something to go on with anyway.
Let us know how you get on.
cheers peter.

I don't know about Topamax, I googled it but don't know much about its use with CH. what I have found is that a lot of the options taken as a preventative often need an increase in dosage as whatever is behind the CH becomes tolerant of many drugs and eventually they don't work without the dosage being increased to near lethal levels before which point you have to find a different option.

I know that sounds awful and it may not be the case for you. My point is that you need to go back to your doctor (please don't increase the dosage on your own as it might not be that at all).

Just as an FYI I take verapamil as a preventative but my CH is episodic so I don't take it all year in the hope that I won't have to keep upping the dose.
