Currently suffering :(
Hi all

Thank you so much for this great website. I have suffered these horrendous headaches since the age 20, like many others GP's thought they were sinus related. My cycles are usually 2 yearly, around Oct, lasting about 4-5 weeks. Currently I am in week 4, so hopefully only a week or so to go! On Verapamil and reducing Prednisolone, but each time I reduce the prednisolone too much they come back with avengence! The best thing I find is oxygen, which is very inconvenient to have to get my partner to drive me to hospital at 3 am. Lucky he is very supportive and understanding icon Imigran spray usually also works. It does really get me down, feel I am letting down people and my work, but what can you do??? Besides the fact the drugs make you like a chemistry set icon I saw a physician last week who is organizing home oxygen for me. Thanks again for somewhere to share our feelings and frustrations !!!

Hey there Sorehead. A fellow partner in pain here. I know exactly how it feels to have life completely derailed by a cluster cycle. Hopefully you'll be pain free very soon!

Hi and welcome
You will find the oxygen at home a great benefit. Some even organise for it at work with the support of their management.
You will also find by having it with you, that you can get on it the moment you can feel that attack starting--the quicker the better.
Understand how you feel re the chemical side of things! Just hang in there and work through them--knowing that prednisone is helping you is great. You will find many here on the forums are wary of it because of side effects etc. Main thing is not to come off too fast.
It worked for me in my early days of treatment.
There is some really great info on the left; would pay you to read through to get a good understanding CHs generally.
Good luck
Heather

I am also a sufferer - from about the age of 23 - to around 50 but just got another attack at the start of October - havent had one for 14 years or so - picked up on the fact you also get them around october - as is the case with me - and on average - every 2 years or so apart - but why October ???

I have been told, they often happen at change in season, I used to live in the tropics and they were particularly bad during the 'build up' before the wet season. Maybe something to do with barometric pressure??? Just a thought..

Changes in air pressure are definitely a trigger for some people. Aeroplane flights are a traumatic experience for them.
