I have been suffering from Cluster Headaches since I was 15 years old and I am now 71. The pain and symptoms were worse in ages 30yrs - 60yrs occuring every 2 to 3 years at the changes of season at the onset of Spring, Summer or Autumn lasting from 6 weeks to 12 weeks.

AS YOU GET OLDER THERE IS HOPE.

At about 45 years old Professor Lance a leading specialist in CH told me that the pain would go during a CH bout at around 60 years old and sure enough at age 62 the incredibly intense pain over my right eye and on top of my head on the right hand side did not ever occur again. However;
The symptoms still remain when a bout starts and still last between 6-12 weeks.
The symptoms were not as noticeable when the intense pain was occurring as that blitzed and obliterated everything else. Now without the pain they are more noticeable in a phase:

Irritability, lack of interest in anything, feeling very flat & dull, poor concentration, lethargy, poor short term memory, a sense of vagueness, difficulty in staying focussed.

While the pain was occurring when I was younger there was also a sense of evil, foreboding and Anger and hopelessness, they do not occur any longer. I am just so grateful that the intense pain has gone and I can cope reasonably easy with the symptoms which are occurring every day and last about 4 - 6 hours. Two 50mg tablets of Sumatriptan help considerably but make me feel very tired. I also get a dull headache at the back of my head pain rated 3 out of ten and a very stiff sore neck. But it does not stop me doing what I want, just makes it more difficult.
