As such there has been no cluster headaches today only the slightest of twinges. However an interation between two medications caused symptions of missed heart beats. One of those medications was for the treatment of cluster headaches and high blood pressure. Symptons have now eased and there are no if any shaddows.

Sunday 25 June, 2017: 06:00am - 08:00am

4

Since Wednesday I have been pain free until Saturday. Saturday morning the pain tried to sneak in around the right eye giving the impression maybe it wasn't a cluster headache. It was only mild. it was obvious because twinges started in the usual places on the right forehead etc. Saturday evening while out with friends the shaddows were pretty constant. Fortunately I slept well last night only to wake this morning to a CH which was stronger than the usual shaddows. Althought it wasn't the worst pain the right eye did feel moist and this lasted an hour. For the rest of the day shaddows have been present with occasional more intense pain. Currently as I post it is still ongoing. Looks like the cycle isn't over yet.

Wednesday 21 June, 2017: 01:50am - 03:00am

6

I thought everything was going so well until 1.50am this morning when I woke and the moster was back. The pain this time seemed to be mostly focused in the right temple with the stabbing. A tear started to leak from the right eye as I lay there. However at some stage I did get some brief sleep only to wake again to find the pain still there but not as bad. Aware that I had to get up early for work I was hoping for more sleep and the pain to go away but when It was time to get up the pain was still there. However today I have been mostly pain free but feeling tired. This evening the shaddows are back and more intense and there is this sense of dread of what the night will bring. Wish this thing would end

Monday 19 June, 2017: 08:40pm - 09:50pm

2

Yesterday evening there were some shaddows but these have been off and on while no actual attack. This morning shaddows were still there and again off and on throughout the day.
Appart from that was doing so well today then this evening a mild cluster headache attack occurred. It was more than shaddows but not enough to be considdered major but I did feel a bit disappointed. Pain has gone for now excpt for some shaddows.

Saturday 17 June, 2017: 06:00pm - 09:00pm

1

Last night I had no pain. I was tired and must have been in a deep sleep so did not notice any pain if it occurred. Today was largly pain free but this evening have noticed some shaddows. It is like the CH is trying to start up but just can't make it. Shaddows are still ongoing a bit but not getting any worse. I am hoping again for a good night's sleep.

Friday 16 June, 2017: 12:30am - 12:45am

3

Today I'm feeling better. Last night I woke to a brief attack and was ready for the onslaught but it didn't happen or maybe I fell asleep through it however when I awoke later there was no pain. Today some slight shaddows but not like before. It's interesting when I have a CH I'm listening in to the pain and monitoring on the twinges like I'm focused on it. When if I didn't have a CH and just a general mild headache I wouldn't give it so much attention. I am hoping that this cycle is coming to an end. I found that someone else from work aslo suffered from CH but she has it more constant and seemes to accept it more. Friends, family and work mates are supportive and ask how the headaches are going. I tend to tell people exactly what is going on without borring them with the issue.

Thursday 15 June, 2017: 12:40am - 01:00am

6

A much better day today as a result of getting some sleep last night. At around 12.40am just after dozing off a CH started up. It was no worse than before with the right eye moist and some tears starting to slide but it was only short lived. I find that if I lie on the side of the headache it actually makes it worse. So I lay on my back. Soon it eased and I fell asleep only to wake again around 4am and no pain not even shaddows. Today some slight shaddows but there were periods of no pain and I felt more energetic. This evening much the same so am hoping that this moment of peace isn't a build up of another attack so look positive. Going to have some ginger and lemon tea tonight.

Wednesday 14 June, 2017: 12:50am - 03:00pm

6

Hardly any sleep last night. The CH started around 12.50 and lasted at it's peak for around half an hour. During that time I could feel tears starting to leak out of my right eye. I lay there and waited for it to ease. It did slightly but that didn't make for any quality sleep only that I must have slept at some stage because I remember having a dream. Soon it was around 5am and I was still awake. I felt tired at work the CH continued throughout the day into the early afternoon but not as bad and it was mainly around the right temple. This evening only slight shaddows and I am hoping for some better sleep tonight. I went to the doctor this afternoon they will contact me tomorrow as to what action they will take.

Tuesday 13 June, 2017: 09:00pm - 10:00pm

6

The cluster headache came later this evening despite shaddows continuing prior. On arriving home from visiting the family I sat for a while and must have dozed slightly then it started up. There was the usual stabbing pain near the right temple. The right eye became moist but after around 20 minutes it started to ease and much of the stabbing had stopped only to leave a dull ache. As I log, the attack is still happening but not as bad as before. I am hoping for a better night.

Tuesday 13 June, 2017: 12:30am - 07:00am

6

After a period of shaddows in the evening I dozed off lightly only to wake to the cluster headache starting up. As I lay there in the dark in built up to a point to the right eye becoming moist and a tear starting to slide out to the right side of the eye. The attack lasted for around half an hour and then eased but still remained for the rest of the night. I hardly had any sleep. After having to get up and get ready for work the pain was turning into shaddows and for the rest of the day there was the reminder that it was still there with the shaddows only slight.

Monday 12 June, 2017: 07:35pm - 08:15pm

5

There were twinges throughout the day a reminder that the cluster headache was still there but dormant. This evening it started up but this time not as bad as yesterday and the right eye didn't water. This time it went quickly leaving very few shaddows.

Monday 12 June, 2017: 03:00am - 03:05am

5

Woke briefly to a cluster headache. It must have been at it's peak because the right eye was watery but soon went back to sleep. When waking later the headache had gone including any shaddows.

Sunday 11 June, 2017: 06:40pm - 09:20pm

6

Today I could feel that the cluster headache was still there at times with twinges. However this evening it became intense. At first it started up mildly and for a short time went away but within 15 minutes it started up again with a vengeance and quickly. The pain was in the right side of the forehead, the right temple and in the right eye. There was also a sensation in the back of the throat towards the end of the attack. The right eye also became moist. It is now easing but is still ongoing turning into shaddows. I am hoping that it wot't be back during the night.

Sunday 11 June, 2017: 03:00am - 10:00am

2

There has been a couple of pain free days but at 3am I woke and the cluster headache was back. Fortunately as soon as I lay back down I was back to sleep. Later when I woke again and it was light the shaddows were lerking and so I probably had the headache since 3am but slept through it. The shaddows lasted to around 10am and then went but I can still feel a very occasional twinge.

Thursday 08 June, 2017: 07:00pm - 07:30pm

2

This evening the headache started around the same time as yesterday except it didn't last as long. However there are still shaddows and I can feel it is still there over two hours later. The pain was in the usual region as well as around the front right side of the forehead and even near the ear. There are mild stabbing points in different parts of the head. I thought that at times through the day the headache was lingering but it could have been something different. A caring workmate friend wanted me to let her know if I was suffering today. It is a comfort to know that others care and that you are not alone.

Wednesday 07 June, 2017: 06:50pm - 09:00pm

2

At the start could barely feel any pain but knew it was another CH starting up. It lasted for around 5 minutes and then it was gone. I thought it was gone althogether. However within half an hour or thereabouts it did start up but not bad. It was enough to rub the right side of the forehead. The pain was focused in that region but did radiate to the right temple and even to the top and back of the head but this was only on occasions. The pain did last a while and it was gradual in going. Currently pain free as I post although can still feel slight twinges at the top of the head but this my not be related.

Tuesday 06 June, 2017: 07:00pm - 08:00pm

3

Over the last few evenings have noticed the headache but only very mild but enough to susspect it could be another CH cycle starting. This evening the pain which was on the right side of the forehead was more intense but subsided quickly. Currently as I post am pain free.

Above period: 18 Attacks over 21 days.

-- Period of remission (138 weeks, 5 days) --

Thursday 16 October, 2014: 08:00pm - 09:35pm

1

A slight CH this evening but didn't get much worse. It did pick up a little with mild stabs but overall it was that niggling pain that was just there. Had a good night last night no pain through the night. The CH is still there a bit but no worse.

Wednesday 15 October, 2014: 07:35pm - 08:00pm

1

Yesterday I was pain free and being pain free for such a long time meant a big CH coming probably through the night but it wasn't to be. There was no CH which seems to indicate that I may be coming to the end of the cycle and will be in remission for maybe another two to three years. This evening however I did feel the slightest of shadows and they occurred around the same time of some previous CH. Overall during this cycle I have been fortunate to not be awakened for long periods with the CH as in previous cycles and that the attacks mainly occurred in the early evening. So I am hoping that the cycle will be coming to an end.

Monday 13 October, 2014: 07:35pm - 08:45pm

3

Had a pain free night last night and pain free day as well until this evening. Shadows started early this evening and did build a little and stayed for around an hour and soon eased. There was some mild stabbing as well. While waking through the night last night I suddenly turned over and then thought if I move too quickly it might bring on a CH but it didn't. Overall I hope the headaches are now starting to become less intense and less frequent and the the cycle is starting to come to an end. I am virtually pain free now.

Sunday 12 October, 2014: 07:15pm - 08:15pm

3

Had a good peaceful night last night and a pain free day today until this evening. Very small shadows started late this afternoon and became more regular this evening when it became more than a shadow. It seemed to build slightly but didn't get all that intense. It lasted for about an hour. The CH was a bit like the CH's that were at the beginning of the cycle starting off mild in the evenings so here is hoping that it is now heading towards the end of the cycle. The pain has gone completely including shadows. Hoping for a pain free night. Didn't need to take the spray either.

Saturday 11 October, 2014: 04:00am - 04:30am

4

I awoke in the middle of a CH so when it actually started is uncertain. I was awake for only a short while fortunately and when I awoke later on several occasions the pain was still there but much milder. The pain was on and off all day mainly just a 1 or 2. I took the spray this evening to see what would happen and I am now currently pain free. Whether it was the spray or natural not sure but if it was the spray it did a good job. The spray leaves a bitter taste in the back of the throat but that seems to be the only side effect.

Friday 10 October, 2014: 08:30pm - 09:00pm

2

Today I went to the doctor finally and he prescribed Imigram nasal spray. Shadows started earlier this evening and increased slightly. The pain was similar to last night again not all that bad but it lasted a while. The stabbing was there all the same but it was much milder. Didn't think it necessary to take any medication. The pain has since gone.

Friday 10 October, 2014: 03:30am - 04:00am

2

I awoke to the CH again but it wasn't bad. It didn't build up. Had to get up for a bit and when I went back to bed lay on my right side and waited for the pain to go and it eased as I fell back to sleep.

Thursday 09 October, 2014: 09:15pm - 10:00pm

1

This evening the CH was mild and started a bit later. It seemed to just linger and didn't increase however it did stay a while but was manageable. Instead of drinking coffee I made up a tea from basil leaves to see if that would ward off the CH. Basil is supposed to relieve headaches. By the time I went to bed the pain had gone.

Wednesday 08 October, 2014: 06:40pm - 08:45pm

5

A good sleep last night with no pain. This evening though the pain started with shadows then built up quickly. It is still ongoing but it has eased somewhat. It peaked for about an hour with stabbing from the front of the head right round the temple and round to the back of the head. Stabs were irregular. I heard that basil was good for headache so I tried some dried crushed basil that was in a bottle and put it under the tongue. It did absolutely nothing. The cluster headache was a law unto itself. The pain has eased but occasionally picks up briefly then eases again. I am hoping that this will be the only episode this evening when I'll then have a pain free night.

Tuesday 07 October, 2014: 09:50pm - 10:00pm

1

Can feel the pain again. It is mild hope it won't build up but if it does that It will ease by the time I sleep.

Tuesday 07 October, 2014: 01:45am - 06:15am

5

I was pain free all day on Monday until early this morning when I woke and the pain was there. This time I couldn't get back to sleep only dozed and had silly dreams. So I must have had some sleep anyway. The pain was in the usual place but during those small hours of darkness the pain seemed to go more to the right temple and to the right ear. It seemed to spread but as it did it had eased. The pain lasted for around 5 hours but didn't stay intense all that time. It eased slowly. I tossed and turned and found if I lay on the side of the pain it would make it worse. As dawn broke the pain was still there smouldering. When I got up to go to work it had nearly gone.

Sunday 05 October, 2014: 07:45pm - 08:45pm

4

The cluster headache from last night did go eventually and I had a peaceful night sleep. Some shadows were lingering this morning but soon eased during the day. A Cluster headache occurred again this evening but this time it wasn't as bad as the night before. I noticed it starting around the right temple. I also find that if I apply pressure to the top of the head to the back it seems to make the pain worse. The pain built up slowly and peaked on several occasions during that one hour period till eventually slowly fading to shadows of which there are still some shadows remaining but the bulk of the pain seems to have gone. I am hoping for a peaceful night.

Saturday 04 October, 2014: 09:00pm - 09:35pm

6

Today pretty much pain free apart from some shadows. Went out tonight for dinner a good night pain free apart from some mild shadows. Just before leaving a CH was starting. On the way home I asked mates over for coffee but a mate could see my mood change he must have recognized I could have been getting a headache as I was rubbing the pain area earlier. On arrival home the CH increased rapidly. I am hoping it has peaked but the CH is currently ongoing.

Saturday 04 October, 2014: 03:30am - 04:45am

3

Yesterday I was pain free apart from the occasional shadows. Early this morning I awoke to the CH fortunately I was half asleep when I looked at the clock. It didn't surprise me that I would get one since I had been pain free all day and was able to work with enthusiasm. I awoke later and the pain was still there but less intense. This particular CH was one of the long lasting ones as it lasted for over two hours. It faded slowly. Currently only occasional shadows some in the right temple but otherwise ok.

Thursday 02 October, 2014: 07:45pm - 09:00pm

6

Had a good sleep last night after four attacks yesterday. Today was pain free apart from occasional shadows but it didn't interfere with work. Felt more energetic. However this evening another blinder. shadows started around dinner time but only small. I felt it was a sign something could be coming. Not long after the pain built up quickly within a space of about 15 minutes. I tried to read to ignore it but it kept on pulsating. Finished reading and listened to a podcast on chronic pain including cluster headaches. The right eye as starting to water a bit. I tried a cold pack as well as a warm wet washer but to no avail. The pain would go on it's own accord. Rubbed the pain area and wanted to push the fist into the skull. The pain did start to ease and fairly quickly at that not as quickly as it built up though but there wasn't that lingering after pain feeling so much. Shadows are still there slightly but much of it has gone and I am hoping for a peaceful nights sleep.

Wednesday 01 October, 2014: 06:45pm - 09:30pm

6

Respite between the two attacks was brief. Shadows soon turned into more stabbing and constant background pain. It lasted over two hours not the worst of it though. Needed distraction other things to focus on. Unlike previous attacks this time the pain quickly built up and slowly eased into shadows of which are still happening now. The pain has eased somewhat but is still smouldering. I am hoping for a pain free night.

Wednesday 01 October, 2014: 06:00pm - 06:30pm

5

It was around dinner time and the pain again like this afternoon started slowly. Soon it built up and during it's half hour duration the right eye felt a bit swollen and started to water. When it did this the pain eased. It was as if the pain was coming out through the tear ducts. Like before the pain eased quickly and for a brief moment I was pain free. This attack was worse than the previous attacks.

Wednesday 01 October, 2014: 01:30pm - 03:00pm

4

After a brief respite from pain it returned slowly again. It was only a matter of time that the pain was enough to make me want to slow down. As I was at work and had jobs to do I felt that these jobs could be done tomorrow as I could concentrate on other matters that wouldn't require a lot of moving around. The pain was by no way severe enough to mention to a supervisor for immediate action but I was keen in letting them know when I was leaving for the day. The pain quickly subsided and I was pain free for some time afterwards and felt I had more energy then.

Wednesday 01 October, 2014: 09:45am - 12:10pm

3

The cluster headache seemed to be more focused around the right eye this morning. At times it was behind the eye. Being around the eye more on the side of the nose it was hard to determine if it was sinus but it was one of the characteristics of a cluster headache. The pain eased off around 12:00.

Wednesday 01 October, 2014: 01:30am - 02:00am

4

Yesterday I was pain free apart from the occasional shadow. Awoke this morning to the pain but it wasn't severe. The pain was more dull than sharp knives. Rolled over to one side to get more comfortable in order to promote falling to sleep more quickly. When I awoke the pain was already there and had probably peaked so I slept through the build up stage. I awoke later briefly and the pain had gone.

Monday 29 September, 2014: 07:30pm - 09:00pm

4

Today pain free until this evening when the cluster came quickly. It picked up for a good half hour then slowly eased but shadows lasted for quite some time and are still currently happening but the pain has largely gone and I am hoping for a peaceful night.

Monday 29 September, 2014: 01:00am - 01:30am

3

Over the last few evenings I have noticed the all too familiar pain which I thought might be a cluster headache but maybe it was sinus. Last night confirmed that I had entered another season. I was only awake for a few minutes which meant the attack wasn't all that severe. I went back to sleep during the attack, awoke later and the pain had gone.

Above period: 22 Attacks over 17 days.

-- Period of remission (139 weeks, 3 days) --

Thursday 26 January, 2012: 08:30pm - 10:00pm

3

I have been pretty much pain free all day. I had a good night last night. A CH did build during the evening and lasted for around 90 minutes. Later that evening it eased and I had a good night. At the time of posting this I haven't had any more Ch's maybe the odd shadow but even they have all but disappeared. Anticipating that the cycle which was only a short one is over and hopefully over for a long time.

Wednesday 25 January, 2012: 01:00am - 04:00am

3

The previous day just shadows at times but in the evening I was pain free. Early this morning I felt the pain but it wasn't enough to keep me awake. However each time I woke the pain was there so it had lasted several hours.

Monday 23 January, 2012: 07:30am - 07:50am

4

Had a good day but this evening another CH occurred enough to want to massage the pain area. It didn't last long and for the rest of the evening I was largely pain free.

Sunday 22 January, 2012: 01:30am - 01:50am

4

When I woke the CH was already in progress. As I lay there it increased quickly. By about 1:50am it had peaked. It tracked over the usual areas of the face and head. I lay there hoping it would stop only to get up and take a pain killer. I went back to bed and the pain eased just as quickly as it started up. During the day there were only shadows. After an attack early in the morning I can feel tired during part of the day. Later that evening it had started up slightly mainly shadows however a CH didn't occur and I slept peacefully that night.

Saturday 21 January, 2012: 01:00am - 01:15am

2

This morning again a weak CH which didn't last long. During the day there were slight shadows.

Friday 20 January, 2012: 01:00am - 01:30am

2

I woke to the pain again but this time it didn't get any worse and it seemed to just stall. It didn't last all that long.

Thursday 19 January, 2012: 07:00pm - 07:15pm

3

Overall today I felt good with only slight shadows. This evening though pain increased. This one didn't last long and had subsided quickly but not altogether. The evening turned out better than yesterday.

Wednesday 18 January, 2012: 08:30pm - 11:30pm

7

The second attack occurred later that day. During the day there were only slight shadows but enough to be a reminder that it was still there and that another attack could happen. Sure enough it did. This was worse than the one earlier that morning. It increased rapidly. I could feel the pain around the right eye and then to the right temple and even to the top of the head and back of the head. There was even a sensation of it going down the top of my back but probably not related. The worst of the pain lasted about 45 minutes until it eased only but slightly. The right eye had become watery and the right nostril had become blocked. During the attack I tried a heat pack to see if it would help. Placing the pack over the painful areas it didn't do much. Later that evening the pain came back after easing off somewhat and at this stage I felt a bit hot and clammy but it might have been due to the warm evening. I felt tired as if it had sapped the energy out of me and in going to bed after a few minutes of hitting the pillow I went into a deep sleep. The next morning I felt better.

Wednesday 18 January, 2012: 01:00am - 01:50am

1

I awoke with another c h at first it was mild but then it started in the usual place and then moved to circle the right eye. It pulsated with sharp stabbing pain with the background of a dull ache. It got to a point that I needed to massage to try and ease the pain as I do when it gets bad. There was a need to massage through the skin and try and reach the pain area. It lasted for about 45 minuted and then it started to subside slowly. In subsiding it spread to the right side of the head behind the ear and even over the top of the head and even into the back of the head as well. But these areas weren't as painful. The pain slowly subsided after much tossing and turning until I went to sleep.

Tuesday 17 January, 2012: 09:00pm - 10:00pm

3

All day I had been pain free until this evening when some shadows occurred which lasted for an hour. I was wondering what the night would bring.

Tuesday 17 January, 2012: 01:00am - 01:15am

3

I woke briefly to a c h however it was only mild and wasn't bad enough to keep me awake and I went back to sleep.

Monday 16 January, 2012: 07:00pm - 12:00pm

4

Again the c h had built up quickly on the right side of the forehead and above the right eyebrow spread across the temple and then across the ear. First it was continuous and then pulsated on an irregular basis. During the attack when it was at it's peak and started to slowly decrease in intensity I then called a medical line for support just to talk it through with someone else. During our conversation the pain was easing fairly quickly but not completely. After the call the c h had all but gone but then it increased again but not to the severity to what it was before. The c h at this time did pulsate more then it dissipated. During the attack I took a couple of pain killers but I never really know whether it's the tablets that are working or it's just the natural progression of the headache. I was pain free for the rest of the evening.

Monday 16 January, 2012: 05:00am - 06:00am

1

I woke and the headache was still there from the hours before like it was a smouldering ember.

Monday 16 January, 2012: 01:00am - 01:50am

4

The pain woke me after an hour of sleep. It was in the usual spot. I lay there in the dark monitoring it's progress. It slowly eased and I went back to sleep.

Sunday 15 January, 2012: 07:00am - 07:30am

1

A few days prior to this date I felt that the c h were starting. However it was apparent that the headaches had started. I was watching TV when it suddenly started. I had been dozing and must have woken up with a start and there it was. It was on the right side of the forehead and progressed to the side of the head. the pain lasted for about 30 minutes.

Sunday 09 August, 2009: 1:30am - overnight

2

I went to bed late and fell asleep fairly quickly only to wake and I was aware of the ache in my head and then I remembered ch. It was only mild and I was deciding whether to take the panadol for it but it didn't feel like it was going to build up any further and just as quickly as I woke I was asleep again. So when the ch actually went I am not sure.

Thursday 06 August, 2009: 12:50am - overnight

3

Was awakened again. I could feel the ch starting I took the panadol to see if it would stop it. I lay there and it didn't get any worse it seemed to remain on a constant pain level which wasn't all that bad it wasn't as bad as the night before and I soon fell asleep with the pain. This morning there were still some shadows but at the time of logging this I am pain free.

Wednesday 05 August, 2009: 12:45am - 4:00am

4

It woke me up I lay there reached over for the panadol and water hoping they will arrest it before it got worse. Not tonight the tablets did absolutely nothing the freight train was coming. I lay there and it quickly built up and for some reason it seemed more sharper than the night before. I became restless turning thinking it might ease lay on my back it started to ease could have been half an hour but this time it didn't go completely it stabbed above and around the right eye and spread into the right temple. I could feel the right eye moisten up a little nose a bit stuffy. Then more stabbing. Slowly it eased I went back to sleep only to dream that someone had smacked me hard in the right eye. Probably the ch still being there. I awoke about 4am again ch much less but shadows. This morning some shadows and right nostril a bit stuffy. Feel a bit drained.

Tuesday 04 August, 2009: 12:28am - 1:05am

3

Just when I thought it was over. After being asleep for just over an hour I was lying on my right side with the pressure of my face on the pillow I woke and felt the pain. I thought maybe it was due to the pressure and I was quickly fully awake. The pain was above the right eye and even a bit behind. It seemed to spread to the right side of the nose but was mainly focused above the eye. I at first lay on my back deciding whether to take the panadol before it built up. The panadol and water bottle was ready. After taking that I lay back down on my left side. It didn't build up any more it stayed constant with slight stabs and I waited to see if the panadol would kick in and as quickly as it started it went. I was surprised how quickly it went I was dropping off to sleep again nearly pain free. At some stage later I woke for a second and thought I felt it in the temple but not sure if it was a dream instead.

Sunday 02 August, 2009: 8:30pm - 9:00pm

1

Today was pretty much pain free which suprprised me as I was expecting that one could start at any time since i had an easing yesterday and a pain free night. However every now and then shadows came and went until in the evening they seemed to increase and I thought it could be the start of another ch but they too went and I had a peaceful night. I am now starting to feel more confident that maybe this cycle could be coming to an end if this is the case it would make it the shortest cycle that I rmember heres hoping.

Saturday 01 August, 2009: 5:00am - 12:15pm

4

This morning it started up again on the crack of dawn. My right eye was slightly moist. This time it started in the right temple and across the top of the head but more to the right. It seemed to be more spread out and not as bad as last night but bad enough. It peaked around 7am and stayed there for a while before easing only slightly and staying at that level for much of the morning. I thought I would go for my usual walk later in the morning thinking that some exercise and the cold air through my nose would help but no just the same. I took a couple of panadol and wasn't confident that it would work and it didn't make any difference like pouring a cup of water on a bushfire. The ch continued on throughout the morning and ever so slowly it was easing until it finally went. At the time of logging this I am pain free except for some slight shadows.

Friday 31 July, 2009: 6:50pm - overnight

5

Today was pretty much pain free except for some shadows in the afternoon where it felt like a ch was about to start but it didn't. This evening I went out and I arrived at a friends place to go and I was talking to them and then it slowly started. It started in the usual spot with shadows and then it built up as we were traveling. It wasn't long before it peaked and I was quite ready to tell people on how I really felt. The peak lasted for about an hour and then it started to subside and stay at the one level with the stabbing. I was hoping it would be on the way out but it lingered. On arriving home later that evening it was still there and not much better than a couple of hours before. I went to bed and was able to get to sleep fairly quickly as the ch wasn't strong enough to keep me awake. I was thinking since I have had one maybe I won't get one through the night and I will have a peaceful night. I awoke briefly through the night only to find the ch all but gone but I knew it was still there waiting.

Friday 31 July, 2009: 12:10am - 1:20am

3

They're back yes the ch have started again after two years. I suspected them starting a few nights ago but dismissed the headache for anything as being a ch. Last night confirmed it. I awoke just after being asleep for an hour and there was the all to familliar pain on the right side just above the right eye wasn't bad but was getting stronger. As I lay there the pain increased and was constant. This lasted for about 20 minutes and then it started showing signs of easing but then came the stabs and at one stage rubbed the affected area. The stabbing was sharp and soon it radiated to the right side and upper lip and even fingers of pain sxtended to the back of the neck. I eventually fell back to sleep with the pain easing. I awoke an hour later to find the pain had nearly gone went back to sleep then awoke again pain free. When the pain had gone my right eye was watery so much so as the tears were starting to run out of the corner of my eye.

Tuesday 15 May, 2007: 7:40pm - 8:30pm

1

Has been nearly a week since I had a ch and I have been sleeping at night without any ch. However this evening I felt a slight ch but it didn't come to anything. It soon faded but there seems to be the slightest of shaddows but nothing and so far it doesn't feel like it is going to build up. I think tonight will be a peaceful one.

Thursday 10 May, 2007: 7:45pm - 10:30pm

2

I have been pain free for a few days now and even at night I have slept right through apart from the usual brief awakenings. However tonight while at a meeting a ch started and it was quite mild at first but enough to recognise what it was there and then it became more apparent. I felt more annoyd that it had returned when I was feeling so much better and I thought it was over. it wasn't all that bad not much in the way of stabbing pains but more of a dull ache and this continued for a few hours. Fortunately it had gone by the time I had gone to bed and I didn't have any shadows after that not even in the morning. So far I am pain free. If I should get any ch I will enter it into the log but for any days that are pain free there will be no entries. I hope tonight will be pain free.

Monday 07 May, 2007: 12:02am - 2:00am

2

Had another ch through the night. Now the times specified here are not the duration of the ch. I was awake for about 15 minutes just a guess and then I went back to sleep but I woke at atound 12am. The ch woke me as usual and it started building not sure what direction it would take I lay on my right side and didn't feel any pressure to cause it to get worse and so I just lay there and soon fell back to sleep. The pain hadn't eased. I woke later 2am and the pain had gone completely. Today has been good with only the slightest of shadows which I could barely feel. I am thinking now that the cycle is now winding down. I am going to avoid chocolate while this cycle is on. I don't eat much chocolate anyway but after having some a week ago it seem to cause some pretty big ch. Hope tonight will be pain free.

Sunday 06 May, 2007: 3:45am - 4:00am

2

Woke briefly this morning and the pain was still there. it was much less and seemed to be the remains of the attack earlier. I was only awake for about 15 minutes and am not sure as to when the pain did go completely only to find when I woke later the pain had gone.

Friday 04 May, 2007: 7:30pm - current

3

This evening another ch hit but not bad so far as it is still there. It built up more slowly this time which does happen and it doesn't appear to be getting any worse. It is stabbing in the usual places above the right eye, in the right temple and even behind the right ear. The stabbing seem to be more above the right eye. Have been advised to drink plenty of water. Hope this ch will go before I retire for the night and that I won't get another through the night and also over the weekend as I will be away until Sunday evening.

Friday 04 May, 2007: 1:00am - 1:30am

2

Woke last night again this time the ch was a little worse than the night before but not enough to keep me awake. it is hard to remember the times as this can be a good thing in a way for I am not quite fully awake. I woke again a while later and found the ch was still there but had faded and by the time I had to get up it was completely gone. Today was a good day with the occasional mild stab to the side of the right temple.

Thursday 03 May, 2007: 2:20am - 3:05am

1

Last night wasn't too bad either had a small ch but was able to get back to sleep as I was probably awake for a matter of minutes when I felt it and lay there wondering whether it would start up but it didn't do anything and so went back to sleep only to wake later to find no pain at all. Not uncommon with these cycles I have had in the past and I am hoping that I am now coming to an end of the cycle but not sure yet. Today pretty much pain free except around 8pm a 1 above the right eye and to the back of the head and near the right nostril so it's a little bit active but so far as I write not getting worse heres hoping. More of those flashes today but I am not entirely sure if it's related to ch this feature on the radio sounded interesting. I had a look on the net and auras are uncommon with ch but do happen. Hope tonight will be a good night.

Wednesday 02 May, 2007: all day -

1

Had a pretty good night last night and today was pain free. Some slight shadows but nothing to be concern about. Yesterday the ch in the evening ended at atound 9:45pm. Also yesterday and on other occasions in this cycle I have seen some flashes expecially when I blink. I heard there was a report on the radio that these flashes occur with ch similliar to migraine and I wonder whether the two are related in some way. We don't hear people say cluster migraine so much. Since I didn't have a ch today I am hoping that tonight will be pain free.

Tuesday 01 May, 2007: 9:10pm - 11:45pm

3

Was away this weekend and on Saturday night saw a show. After the show a ch started but only mildly. It seemed to stay at the same pain level for about 90 minutes then slowly built up but not severe. I went to bed with the pain still there with it's usual stabbing then I fell asleep.

Tuesday 01 May, 2007: 7:30pm - 8:45pm

4

Today I felt pretty tired from lack of sleep but was able to manage. no pain during the day but a strange sensation like a crawling sensation underneath the scalp above the right eye not painful though more itchy if anything but this happened at times only mildly don't know if it makes sense. Tonight watching the tv and went into a micro sleep. Wasn't aware of it until the end of the news then the ch started yes a double bunger for today but this time not as bad as I write this it is still there and it is easing off so I am hoping that I won't get one tonight and I willl get a decent nights sleep. Perhaps I need to see the doctor. I put it off in hoping that the cycle will be over soon and besides he will probably give me deseril don't like that stuff but ok we need to address the cause but at the same time I want to get rid of this pain so tonight is another night and heres hoping it will be better.

Tuesday 01 May, 2007: 1177977600 - 1177977600

7

It was a bad one last night. Only had been asleep for over an hour and woke to the slightest onset of the ch. I stayed awake and soon it built up and the stabbing started and it wasn't occasional it was pretty constant. so restless lay on my left side then on my back didn't want to put pressure on the right side of my face although I could drive my fist through my head and grab what was causing it. Oh' it went on and on so restless couldn't escape it how long was this going to last for dare look at the clock to much because I would know how much sleep I lost. The pain went to the right side of my head and then my right eye started to water and this time the tear ducts flowed. My right nostril started to block not become stuffy but acutally block and then the left nostril went the same way in sympathy and I had to resort to breathing through my mouth for it was hard to breathe through the nose but somehow the nose became clearer later in the attack. Great I can now breathe. The pain wasn't any better though. I gave this entry a 7 but the pain was much more. I turned on the radio and listened to some talk back because I wanted to get my mind on to something else. Ever so slowly I became more drowsy and I believe the pain had eased ever so slightly I turned off the radio it must have been somewhere around 2am. When I turned it on must have been just after 1am. I must have gone off to sleep from being drained and I had crazy dreams. I woke at 3:55am pain had eased and I went back into a fitful sleep only to see the light of dawn and the radio sounding at 6am. I have to go to work today. Didn't get much sleep at all.

Monday 30 April, 2007: afternoon - evening

1

Well last night was the best night I have had since these ch had started. I woke as usual only for a minute and realized that there were no ch. went back to sleep and felt more refreshed this morning. Today has brought some mild and I mean mild ch not enough to worry about but enough to make me know that they are still there. This mainly occured this afternoon. I didn't put a specific time as they have been happening frequently. It is interesting how we tend to monitor our pain well I do and check where it is coming from and there is still that dread that a ch will hit just when we feel a slight shaddow only to find nothing and I can be pain free again and so that is what it has been like today. I felt more energetic and better in myself as I was at work. The pain which was very slight seemed to come from different areas. It didn't start above the right eye but could be felt in the temple or just below the hair line on the right of course and I seem to recall even on the right side of the lip so it was moving around. As I write it is still there but very mild and my right nostril is a little stuffy but I don't think it is from any ch. I hope that tonight will be another peaceful one.

Sunday 29 April, 2007: 6:00am - 3:00pm

3

I woke this morning with the pain still there but not as bad. It was the remains of the onslaught that occured only hours ago. During the day it was pretty constant took a couple of panadol soluble useless didn't do a thing as I expectd like pouring a glass of water on a bushfire. Didn't think it would work but here was hoping anyway. So the pain took it's course and lasted throughout the day gradually easing in the afternoon. It was pretty constant but in the afternoon and evening it came and went and not as bad. It wasn't always above the right eye either sometimes it was on the right temple and even on the upper lip. As I write there are still some shaddows. I didn't have much enthusiasm and didn't feel like doing much as I was tired from lack of sleep last night. All this makes you feel down even after the pain has gone you are left exausted and you don't pick up straight away. I may have to go to the doctor but he will probably prescribe deseril again and the side effects of those aren't the best so not sure yet. Anyway I am feeling better this evening and I am looking forward to a better night so keep thinking positive.

Sunday 29 April, 2007: 12:50am - 2:20am

7

A complete onslaught. I was feeling so well yesterday and I enjoyed the evening just as I would and went to bed and to sleep for an hour and then suddenly woke and it was mild for a minute then BANG just above my right eye exploded into action and the searing stabbing continued on and on and on and on relentlessly for over an hour it then started to spread to the right temple and then behind the right ear the right nostril a little stuffy later in the period the right eye was moist and I have been told that when I get these my eye can look bloodshot and it must have been bloodshot then. It continued as I lay there. After all that time I went back to sleep don't know how probably from being drained of energy only to wake later with it still there but not as bad. Not a good night.

Friday 27 April, 2007: 12:45am - 1:15am

4

After having a ch yesterday evening I didn't think I wold get one so close to that. Woke up early with one and just put up with it. Went back to sleep. Today however was been pain free apart from a few shaddows during ghe day in the evening I went out and was able to enjoy the evening pain free.

Thursday 26 April, 2007: 8:00pm - 9:30pm

7

Was feeling so good today with no shaddows. I went to a meeting and was still feeling well then it hit and quickly at that. Soon the sharp knives were stabbing above my right eye and it was starting to radiate to the fight temble and eventually to the top of the head and to the back of the head. somebody at the meeting knew someine who had ch and she recognised my bloodshot eye. She knew what to look for. This brings comfort as it indicates that ch can be visable to the outside world. The pain continued throughout the meeting with it's pulses that stab at random amongst a backdrop of dull pain. slowly the pain eased but still stabbed as the pain in the background eased. After such an attack there is a feeling of lethargy I say funny things I feel tired but can still carry on. I am now as I write this left with some shaddows as the main attack has gone. I hope that I have a pain free
night.

Thursday 26 April, 2007: 12:30am - 1:30am

5

Another one early this morning. This time I didn't bother with any cold or hot packs although I did heat up the wheat bag before going to bed but had cooled down by the time the attack came on so I did get the bag but no help so back on the floor it went. Went back to sleep with the pain receeding. Woke later pain free.

Wednesday 25 April, 2007: 3:15pm - 3:30pm

5

The day was largly pain free apart from shaddows that occured frequently. I was resting during the afternoon and must have dozed off and the pain woke me to fully. It was very slight at first but then built up quickly for 15 minutes and ended just as fast as it came. I was reading outside in the sunlight and being outside made me feel better and it didn't make the pain any worse. For the rest of the evening I was pain free. This ch was a quick one as today was a double bunger.

Wednesday 25 April, 2007: 1:00am - 2:00am

5

Stayed up late as I wouldn't have to go to work the next day. A ch started not long after I went to sleep. I was teady with the weapon the wheat bag in the freezer this time and tried it out and no effect. The pain had to take ti's course I was somewhat dissapointed. So I lay there in the dark and eventually went back to sleep as the pain was receeding.

Tuesday 24 April, 2007: 12:15am - 12:45am

4

Had a pain free day except for a few shaddows later this evening. However all didn't start that well with an attack early this morning. It is those attacks during the night I don't like. I have heard about cold packs and so I put some frozen peas in the freezer to try in case I had an attack through the night. I guess I was hoping I would get an attack so I could try it out. I went to sleep and sure enough I woke with one starting. I applied the cold pack which in itself gives you a headache and pressed it against the pain area for a while and then went back to bed and the pain didn't progress at all it was as if it had been arrested and then it eased and I went back to sleep. Now I am not sure whether it was going to ease anyway or whether the peas did the trick but I will need to continue the experiment while the season is here. Now today I heard you can use the wheat pack so tonight I now have the wheat pack in the freezer the ones you heat up to relieve muscle pain. Well this will be used to relieve headache pain and I could even try heating it up to see if it works so tonight it could come again and I will try it. Now the pain level I mentioned was 4 but I could say it was more like 3.5 last night and so it really wasn't one of those blinders. Hope tonight will be pain free.

Monday 23 April, 2007: 12:30am - 1:30am

6

Had a pain free day today but early this morning was a blinder. I don't like these ch that occur during the night because the house is quiet and there is no other distraction at least through the day you can do something and talk to someone and try and focus your mind onto something else. However I went to bed and it took some time to get to sleep because there was a storm outside and I could see the lightning some of which was close so I got up and disconnected the computer and then went back to bed and didn't fall back to sleep but only dozed. I lay on my right side and then it started. My initial thought was due to the pressure of laying on that side it would start the attack and I have sometimes wondered about this. The attack quickly started and soon I was laying on my back with the sharp hot knives stabbing above my right eye. It was dark and all I had was the darkness and the pain. The storm had left me alone to be replaced by the storm in my head. I lay on the left side which seemed to bring some relief only because there wasn't pressure and I dozed again monitoring the pain feeling it's every stab and looking for it to subside and soon it slowly did and while it still did the same things it slowly faded I rub my right eye and it was moist more moist this time than earlier in the afternoon the attack this time was worse. It started to fade retreat and soon I fell asleep. I awoke some time later and no pain. The day today was pain free only for a few shaddows less than yesterday but this evening as I write this there are shaddows a reminder that the ch season is still here. Because I haven't had a ch during the day I am hoping that I am not due for one tonight.

Sunday 22 April, 2007: 2:00pm - 3:05pm

4

This afternoon was the worst attack so far. In the early hours of this morning I did wake briefly to some shaddows but soon went back to sleep. Shaddows continued during the morning but only occasionally. However by 2pm it started quickly and the hot knives were stabbing. All ch occur for me on the right side of the head above the eye. As the hour progressed the pain was starting to radiate and could be felt mildly near the ear and into the mouth and nose area. It would throb at irregular intervals and the right eye started to moisen but not water. Soon the pain slowly subsided completely without shaddows and at the time of writing am pain free.

Saturday 21 April, 2007: 8:00pm - 9:30pm

2

the cluster headaches have been happening for a week now but only very mild. This evening there was a quick onset and they spread to the jaw and behind the right ear. Headaches were only mild and surprisingly short lived. Towards the end of the episode the pain was more general and left with shaddows. Over the last week there have been shaddows and it feels like one will hit at any time but it doesn't. I am hoping that if I am to go through another season of these ch it will be short and mild and happen through the day and not wake me at night. Then again I don't want them at all.
