Hi All,

30 year old Aussie male here. I previously was a member of the site but let my membership lapse. I would suggest that I was CH free for 18 or so months before what I can hell has returned. I'm currently deployed to the pacific with the Aus Govt and when I first arrived early in the year I was anticipating hell on earth. I had come to expect 6-8 weeks of soul destroying pain in March but it didn't happen.

Only recently I've let my fitness regime lapse and accidentally had a cigarette while having one too many drinks last week. Obviously as punishment my body has decided to destroy my sleep and life by having an attack between 1130pm-1am. I'm sort of glad it's not the 253am that is has been every other year since I developed CH at 22. So as I sit here typing I wanted to say hi and just want to cry but I refuse to let these bastards beat me. The Maxalt doesn't work as quickly as it used to. Alternating hot and cold packs does something but I think that's because my skin/brain is so confused it is trying to catch up with the pain.

Sorry for the overload of information but just sharing my thoughts is seemingly help the pain dissipate quickly. I hate how it goes as quickly as it comes on. I always seem to know when to lay my head back down and try to sleep. It's like the nerve twitches as if to say "Ok I've had my fun messing and punishing you".

What a prick hey? I hate CH but I refuse to let it beat me. I was only talking with my mum about them and she thinks she had them in her 20s. I seem to get all her ailments. She no longer has them now - I dont think I'll be so lucky.

Sorry for the rant. It just helped me get through the last 15 minutes. As I said as quickly as it comes, it goes. Fingers crossed I sleep through the night. Thanks for reading folks. I guess I looked a gift horse I the mouth thinking I was clear when I didn't get them in March.

Cheers

T
